Jean Sweeney Open Space Park Fund

City Council Approves Park Contracts

At the March 1st City Council meeting, two contacts were approved for funding. These contracts start the real work of creating the Jean Sweeney Open Space Park.

1. Consultant Agreement with SLR International Corporation to Provide
City of Alameda Site Investigation and Environmental Report Services for the Jean
Sweeney Open Space Park, Including Contingency, for a Total
Amount Not to Exceed $363,610 and to Amend Project Revenue and
Expenditures Budget by $170,610.

Work: SLR International Corporation will provide site investigation required by the State of California Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) to verify any toxic substances are found and taken care of so the park is a safe place for people to spend time.

2. Consultant Agreement with Placeworks Landscape Architects to
Provide Design Services for Jean Sweeney Open Space Park, in an
Amount Not to Exceed $665,828 and to Amend Project Revenue and
Expenditures Budget by $465,828 from Development Impact Fees -
Recreation and Parks.

The funding for these work projects was received from Tim Lewis Communites who provided $2 Million toward design and construction of the east end of the park.
